From the founders of the Embassy restaurant and members' club in Mayfair comes this new restaurant and bar offering. Based along similar lines to the Embassy, it aims to combine glamorous and discreet surroundings with fantastic food, and for members of the Mayfair club it even offers a helicopter service to transport them.

Harlem, London
Arthur Baker is famous for many things: a legendary New York House DJ in the 1980s, music producer in the 1990s and owner of the highly successful Elbow Room chain. He opens this next project with designer Paul Daly and restaurateur Stuart Hopson Jones. New York is the theme, and sculptured, urban, post-industrial is the aesthetic. Expect authentic food and cutting-edge music.

Located at the Punch Tavern on Fleet Street, this all-day gastropub boasts a cross-cultural menu and a relaxed, casual atmosphere, perfect for young creative corporate types who want an alternative to fine dining.

The Lavish Lounge, Weybridge, Surrey
This new venture claims to take Soho to the suburbs - or at least offer a stylish drinking and eating den for suburban dwellers who don't want to schlep into the West End. Owners Carlo Platia and Julia Cesary say it is the first of many - so Kent and Essex should watch out for fresh, tapas-style food (with an emphasis on fish) and a decent drinks list in the next 18 months.

Tom and Dick's bar, London
Even before it opened, this opulent addition to West London's bar scene played host to a birthday bash that saw Hugh Grant, Damien Hirst and Minnie Driver party until the early hours. It offers an extensive wine and Champagne list, which may be comfortably quaffed in this art-deco inspired space.

Stranded, London
This new two-storey bar and restaurant serves drinks and modern Mediterranean food to 60-70 covers. Some parts of the building are more than 100 years old but it has been given a contemporary revamp. Restaurant manager is Nello di Caprio
