Message from Forbes Mutch, editor,
Caterer & Hotelkeeper
This year we are celebrating 21 years of the Cateys (or Caterer & Hotelkeeper Awards, to give them their full name).
Back in 1984, the Cateys were described as "bringing together every sector of the industry..." and that premise remains true today. The Cateys are the foremost awards in the industry, the awards that everyone wants to win, the awards that are commonly referred to as "the Oscars" of the industry.
What makes the Cateys so special is that, since the very beginning, recipients have been nominated by the industry and the winners selected by the industry. This means that you, as a reader of Caterer and a user of the Caterer-online website, have the opportunity to play a part in the process.
Hospitality consultants PKF, assisted by the Caterer editorial team, will research the names and prepare a dossier of information on each nomination. This will allow the judging panels for each category to make a fair comparison of the candidates, against a set of given criteria. The judges are chosen from the industry for their depth of knowledge and experience.
This year there are 17 categories, including the Lifetime Achievement award.
NB: Nominations for the Cateys 2004 have now closed.
