Domino’s Pizza believes it can maintain the momentum achieved in 2007 this year, despite gathering fears about a slowdown in UK consumer spending.
The company ended the year to 30 December 2007 having achieved its new openings target of 50 stores. It now has 501 Domino’s Pizza outlets in the UK and Ireland.
Like-for-like sales for the year were up 14.7% (2006: 9.7%) and in the crucial six week Christmas season growth hit 17.6% (2006: 13.1%).
Internet, interactive TV and mobile phone sales soared during the six weeks to 30 December with like-for-like sales up 102% (2006: 43.1%).
It means that in 2007 Domino’s achieved £32.2m in e-commerce sales compared with £20.1m the year before.
Chris Moore, who became chief executive on 31 December 2007, said: “Last year was a tremendous year for Domino’s Pizza in the UK and Ireland. I’m excited by the prospect of leading this business forward towards our goal of 1,000 stores and to maintaining the momentum of the business into 2008 and beyond.”
