Michelin-starred chef Andrew Fairlie of the exclusive Gleneagles hotel in Perthshire is planning to cook a Burns Night supper on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanazania.
The mission planned for 2011 will see Fairlie trek up the mountain and prepare the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties once the group reaches the summit.
Andrew, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2005, said: “It’s certainly going to be an adventure. I’m hugely excited about Tanzania though I feel a bit nervous about getting into shape.”
The 16 walkers due to climb Mount Kilimanjaro are hoping to raise money for the Hospitality Industry Trust. Fairlie said: “HIT Scotland is another fantastic cause, offering a leg up to young chefs struggling to get their careers started.”
