Charlton House launches healthy eating initiative

Contract caterer Charlton House has launched a new healthy eating initiative for its business and industry customers across the UK.

Under the "well being, being well" programme, Charlton House will feature a nutritional ingredient each week on menus throughout 135 staff restaurants.

Sea vegetables, nuts, grains, pulses and seeds will all appear on Charlton House menus over the coming months. Its clients include private healthcare group Bupa, electronics giant Sony, Network Rail and the Treasury.

Michelin-starred chef, David Cavalier, food innovation director of Charlton House, has created a series of recipes incorporating the "ingredient of the week" for employees to make at home.

Caroline Fry, joint managing director of Charlton House, is spearheading the concept.

"Our goal is to improve health at work and help our customers to make informed choices by giving detailed information on the nutritional and health-enhancing properties of the natural foods featured each week," she said.

"We all know that a good the diet is essential to overall good health, but finding the time to research and source some of the more unusual ingredients is often easier said than done, with long working hours, commuting times and family pressures.
