Vanessa Brett has been appointed as a consultant by food safety and health and safety consultancy the European Safety Bureau.
Based in Chelmsford, Brett will liaise with clients throughout London and the South East.
She qualified as an environmental health officer in 1991, before working for several years in environmental health at Brentwood Borough Council.
