Amadeus wins £2m contract at Coventry Cathedral
Amadeus, the NEC Group's event catering business, has won a £2m contract at Coventry Cathedral.
Bombed in the Second World War, the ruins of the previous 14th-century gothic cathedral now sit alongside the new St Michael's Cathedral, which attracts 34,000 visitors each year.
The five-year deal sees Amadeus deliver all event catering at the cathedral, including weddings and corporate meetings as well as coach tours and public events such as the Flower Festival.
In addition, Amadeus will introduce a new coffee shop on site called Cloisters, aimed at visitors to the cathedral as well as passers-by.
Jane Woodward, executive director of Coventry Cathedral, said: "We're delighted to be working with Amadeus. They are an award-winning team who inspired us with their approach, their ideas and their passion for what they do."
The caterer already operates at a number of historic venues, including Warwickshire's Kenilworth Castle and the recently announced Stoneleigh Abbey. Amadeus also operates at the NEC, the LG Arena, the NIA and the ICC, as well as Coventry Transport Museum and the National Sea Life Centre. The company also delivers catering at a number of high-profile external events, including the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics this summer.
