Rocco Forte Hotels has confirmed Brown’s hotel in London remains on course for an autumn opening.
Refurbishment began in April last year and was meant to be completed by May 2005 but the contractors fell behind schedule, pushing the opening back to late September.
Originally, the predicted renovation cost was £15m, but it has since increased to £19m because of the extra work required on the 19th century building.
Guests staying in the Mayfair hotel’s 117 rooms can look forward to broadband connections and interactive flat-screen LCD TVs with on-demand music. Those in the 12 larger suites receive their own fireplace and double walk-in showers.
Food in the hotel restaurant, the Grill, will be overseen by executive chef Laurence Glayzer, who has worked at the Savoy and Ritz hotels in the capital. The menu is described as a balance of English dishes and continental cuisine.
