London Restaurant Festival

More than 400 London restaurants have signed up for the inaugural London Restaurant Festival that takes place in October and there is still time to register.

Created by the London Evening Standard’s food critic Fay Maschler and Simon Davis, who together run restaurant consultancy Private View, the festival will run from 8-13 October.

Supported by Mayor of London Boris Johnson and tourism body Visit London, it will be a citywide celebration of dining out designed to raise the profile of establishments involved and drive footfall.

The London Restaurant Festival will run as an umbrella under which myriad events will take place.

These will include “gourmet odysseys” on London buses travelling between different restaurants from course to course; a food film festival; a Dragon’s Den style pitch offering operators the chance to engage with industry luminaries; and a Vietnamese street food festival. The festival will culminate in an awards gala dinner.

Marcus Wareing, who has already signed up to get involved, said: “I am proud to be part of the London restaurant scene. We offer some of the best cuisine in the world from the most diverse range of restaurants.

“In this current climate what a great idea, a celebration of our existing restaurants and a reminder of how unique London really is.  Food is fun and for six days in October everyone can see just how much.”

Restaurant registration documents and more information on the festival’s events are available at www.londonrestaurantfestival.com or by emailing penny.smith@londonrestaurantfestival.com
