Independent education caterer Alliance in Partnership (AiP) has added a Worcester primary school to its burgeoning portfolio of contracts in the Midlands.
Worth £315,000, the three-year deal kicks off at Cherry Orchard primary school at the start of the new academic year in September, following a rigorous tender process that saw AiP pitched against three rival bidders.
Cherry Orchard is part of the Healthy Schools Programme, holding the Silver Eco Schools Award, and the caterer is expected to support the school in its focus on health and the environment.
David Weller, AiP managing director, said: "Cherry Orchard already have their own gardening club which grows plants, flowers and vegetables and we are very excited to have secured a new contract which such a healthy focused school."
AiP will have a brand-new kitchen with up-to-date appliances and environmentally friendly equipment to work with, after Worcester County Council acted on behalf of the school to obtain a grant to help part-fund the refurbishments.
The schoolchildren can expect ongoing consultation from their new caterer, which will conduct taster sessions ahead of new menus and carry out pupil questionnaires to ensure the kitchen team are aware of any special dietary or ethnic diversity requirements.
The new school year will see an additional £1.8m-worth of new business for AiP, adding to its 90% turnover increase in just three years.
