Adriano Cavagnini has been appointed as executive chef of the new Four Seasons Hotel London, which will open on Park Lane in December.

He joins the 192-bedroom Four Seasons after spending seven years as executive chef at the Hotel Eden in Rome in his native Italy.

As well as being responsible for the hotel's culinary direction and all banqueting and private dining, Cavagnini will also oversee the Italian-inspired menus in Amarento, the hotel's restaurant, bar and lounge.

"Our cuisine will be modern," he explains. "It will be inspired with Italian flavours, with British style and it will be enhanced by tastes from around the world."

Cavagnini is returning to London, where he began his career working for Jerome Dutoit, then executive chef at the Hyde Park Hotel, whom he credits as his mentor in teaching him the basics of French cuisine. He went on to work in Brazil and Switzerland before returning to London as head chef at the Grosvenor House hotel.

"This is an exciting and challenging time for me," said Cavagnini, who is currently recruiting his new brigade. "I am delighted to be joining Four Seasons in its landmark return to Mayfair and to be at the heart of the culinary scene at this thrilling time in London."

Four Season Hotel London closed in September for an extensive refurbishment costing £125m.
