Moto triumphs in Loo of the Year competition

Friday 08 December 2006 13:37

Roadside service operator Moto has won a national trophy in the Loo of the Year awards.

Moto picked up the corporate provider title for companies that enter ten or more sites into the competition, which attracted more than 1,100 submissions this year.

Last year Moto, then owned by Compass Group, won the overall Loo of the Year competition trophy for the "excellent standard" of its toilets.

First place this year went to the Camping and Caravanning Club.

Moto’s latest accolade came as research revealed that many customers value the cleanliness of a restaurant’s conveniences above the quality of its food.

The survey of more than 300 consumers, by research firm United Minds on behalf of supplier Metsä Tissue, found 78% would not go back to a restaurant with dirty toilets no matter how good the meal.

It also found 80% of those surveyed thought nasty washrooms were a barometer for hygiene in the restaurant’s kitchen, and were likely to pass on their observations to friends.
