Unicorn Inn

The regional winner of the Les Routiers Dining Pub of the Year 2005 award is looking for a new owner.

The historic Unicorn Inn on Excise Street in Kincardine, Fife, has been owned and operated for the past five years by Tony and Liz Budde. They now want to focus on bringing up their young family.

The 17th century coaching inn, which dates back to 1639, was the birthplace of physicist and chemist Sir James Dewar, the inventor of the vacuum flask and the first person to liquidise hydrogen gas

It now comprises a 34-seat grill, a cosy lounge bar, and the more formal 24-seat Red Room restaurant on first floor. The sale also includes a large ,four-bedroom family house.

“We are delighted to be involved with the sale of the Unicorn Inn which has in recent years firmly established itself on the map of Central Scotland’s best restaurants,” said Nicky Finnieston, associate director at property agent Christie & Co.

The Glasgow office of Christie & Co is seeking offers in excess of £425,000 for the freehold on the restaurant.
