Tourism tastic this week with Visit Britain launching a North American charm offensive, Visit London reporting on the remorseless march of branded hotels in the capital, the Tourism Innovation Group appointing a new chairman and visits from inbound tourists to the UK hitting an all time high.
Busy, busy, busy.
Still, it looks like those international tourists won’t include any Cuban business delegations at Hiltons, as the company, now owned by the USA, has begun enforcing the USA’s long running embargo of the communist country worldwide.
No such drama at London’s Floridita, though. The Conran/Havanna Holdings joint venture, which is backed by the Cuban government, has made a couple of key appointments.
With sandwich chain Benjy’s in administration again, management changes at Sports Cafe and Spanish tapas chain La Tasca in talks, February looks like it’ll be a busy month.
Maybe take time to watch some clips on TripAdvisor or our latest CatererTV spot on the owners of the Big Sleep hotel.
If that doesn’t appeal, maybe have a flutter on how much fall-out remains to come from the Government’s brave new gambling regime, which faces a revolt from opposition MPs in Parliament.
