The five-star Montcalm hotel in London is claiming to be the first fully-scented hotel in the world.
In conjunction with interior landscape company, Ambius, the 153-bedroom hotel is inviting guests to select their personal room aroma from a selection of exotic fragrances when making their reservation or when checking in to the hotel.
The fragrances - selected to create an intimate and relaxing ambiance – include Mojito fresh, lavender, fresh clean, pink grapefruit, saw grass, lotus flower and marine fresh. A signature scent based on jasmine and sandalwood is also being developed for the hotel.
Ramesh Arora, managing director of Shaftesbury Hotels, the operating company of the Montcalm said the hotel wanted to offer a changeable scent system for each bedroom.
“We wanted to offer our guests something different, something that was not available anywhere else in the world,” he said. “It is a well known fact that certain smells evoke a sense of wellbeing, comfort and confidence. We hope our collection of bespoke scents reflect the hotel’s heritage values and timeless elegance.
