Thatched Devon pub changes hands
The Chasers Arms pub in the village of Stokeinteignhead, Devon, has been sold for more than £500,000. The freehold on the Grade II-listed property was bought by Simon and Alison Ede, who have been in the licensed trade for decades and own another pub in Devon. The thatched property dates from 1534 and includes a 70-seat restaurant, a three-bedroom apartment for the owners and a garden that seats 20. The agent was Bettesworths.

Thankful pub has new owners
The Rest & Be Thankful Inn in the Somerset village of Wheddon Cross has been sold, through agent Christie & Co, for more than the £550,000 asking price. The property includes a main bar, a lounge bar, 36-seat restaurant, a function room to hold up to 50 guests, a pool room and a patio beer garden. Previous owners Mike Weaver and Joan Hockin, who have run the business since 1982, are retiring. The new owners are Ronnie and Glenis Kingston. Ronnie previously worked for Thistle Hotels for many years.

Shooting hotel sold
The Strathbeg House hotel at St Fergus, Aberdeenshire, has changed hands for more than £285,000. The new owners, Lubos Barta and Blanka Bartova, have moved from Hampshire to take over the eight-bedroom property, which is popular among shooting parties. The main restaurant seats 26 and there is another non-smoking section for 16, while two function rooms can hold up to 80 and 100 respectively. The agent was Colliers Robert Barry.

Isle of Wight hotel sold after 30 years
The two-star, 52-bedroom Melbourne Ardenlea hotel at Shanklin on the Isle of Wight has been sold for a sum understood to be in the region of £900,000. The hotel was sold by the Dawson and Corby families, who had owned it for the past 30 years. The purchasers are the Janzen family. Facilities at the hotel include a swimming pool and a 100-seat restaurant. Christie & Co was the agent.

Skye's the limit for Devon couple
The eight-bedroom Ullinish Lodge hotel on the Isle of Skye has been sold for about £350,000 through agent Colliers Robert Barry. The property includes a 40-seat restaurant, cocktail bar and residents' lounge. New owners Brian and Pamela Howard previously ran a hotel in Devon.

Fine-dining plans for Yorkshire hotel
David and Luiza Todd have bought the 10-bedroom Frenchgate hotel in Richmond, North Yorkshire, for more than the £550,000 guide price quoted by agent Colliers Robert Barry. The new owners plan to add a conservatory, which will trade as a bistro, and develop a fine-dining restaurant at the hotel. David previously worked in sales and marketing in the healthcare sector, while Luiza is a technical sales manager. Joining them in the new venture are Michael and Catherine Benjamin. Michael is a chef who previously worked at Gidleigh Park hotel in Devon, while Catherine has lots of front-of-house experience.
