Marlon Abela acquires restaurant site on London's Charlotte Street
The Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation (MARC) plans to launch a fifth restaurant in London, Caterersearch has learned.
The group, owned and run by chairman and chief executive Marlon Abela, has taken over a site on Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, previously occupied by Italian chain Bertorelli.
MARC, which already runs the Michelin-starred Greenhouse and Umu restaurants as well as Cassis Bistro and private members' club Morton's in London, is understood to be planning a relaunch of the site some time next year.
It is not yet clear what type of cuisine the new venture will offer, although Abela is understood to be keen on opening an Italian restaurant in London.
A spokeswoman for MARC confirmed the news but declined to give further details on the project at this stage.
The new site will be the fifth London restaurant in the MARC portfolio, which also includes US restaurants Bistro du Midi in Boston and Morello Italian Bistro in Greenwich, Connecticut, as well as two A Voce Italian restaurants in New York.
