Hilton Hotels opens hotel at Madrid Airport
Hilton Hotels has added a hotel in Spain with the opening of the Hilton Madrid Airport, its 84th European property. The 284-room hotel is located a few hundred metres from the airport and comprises two eight-storey cubes interconnected with conference and events space. It also includes the Ferrum Bar, the Reserva restaurant and a more casual dining La Plaza café. In addition to this property, Hilton is opening its second hotel on the island of Majorca, and expects to introduce a further 10 hotels across Europe in 2008.

Principal Hayley Opens Venues in Paris and Barcelona
Hotel and conference group Principal Hayley will open its 20th property in Chateau Saint Just to the north of Paris this autumn. The 150-bedroom, 30-meeting room will be the first Principal Hayley hotel and conference venue to be opened in continental Europe. The group will also open a new venue in Barcelona in September. The 186-bedroom La Mola will be located 25 minutes from the centre of Barcelona and feature a spa and 26 meeting rooms.

Starwood launches Aloft in Europe…
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has launched its first Aloft property in Europe, with the opening of a 155-room in Brussels, Belgium. The £55m property, which is set to open in early 2010, is located near the European Parliament buildings and will also include 108 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 5,000sq ft of retail space.

... and W hotels in Hong Kong
Starwood is to launch its W Hotels brand in Hong Kong this September, one week prior to the commencement of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It is the group’s first W Hotel in China and will feature 393 luxurious guest rooms, a spa, a gym, meeting space and two restaurants and a bar. Starwood said it plans to continue to expand the W Hotel brand in Asia, with plans to open hotels and retreats in Bangkok, Guangzhou, Macao Studio City, Shanghai and Yokohama.
