Tourism has another representative in the cabinet after the Government’s latest reshuffle, with Ben Bradshaw taking on the role of Culture Secretary.
Bradshaw, MP for Exeter since 1997, is promoted to head up the Department for Culture, Media and Sport from the Department of Health, where he was minister for health services and a minister for the South West.
He replaces Andy Burnham who has taken on the role of Health Secretary following Alan Johnson’s move to Home Secretary. However, tourism minister Barbara Follett has remained in her role.
Bradshaw, 49, has also held ministerial roles at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and junior positions at the Privy Council Office and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Before his election as MP, Bradshaw worked as a journalist, training on the Express & Echo in Exeter before working for BBC Radio Devon and going on to be the BBC's Berlin correspondent.
