Guardian Slime Inhibitor

Slime is a key cause of breakdown in ice machines, not to mention a health hazard to customers.

US ice machine manufacturer Manitowoc has come up with a patented slime inhibitor, for use in its S Series ice machines, that inhibits the growth of the bacteria and fungi that create the odorous slime.

Operators simply pop a Guardian Slime Inhibitor sachet into a holder in the machine, where it releases chlorine dioxide on a controlled basis to zap the bugs without affecting the ice or alter the taste.

The use of the sachet - which should be changed every 30 days - can reduce the number of deep cleans needed to one in six months. The stainless-steel S Series comes in a range of sizes that can produce between 116kg and 903kg of ice per day.
