Waldorf Astoria to launch in Edinburgh with conversion of the Caledonian
Hilton Worldwide is to introduce its luxury Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts brand to Scotland, with the conversion of the Caledonian Hilton Edinburgh hotel.
The legendary Caledonian, which has been open for more than 100 years, will be relaunched in summer 2012 following a £24m investment programme, which will take in the 240 bedrooms, public rooms, restaurant and spa.
The announcement comes soon after the launch of London Syon Park, which is the second Waldorf Astoria in the UK, alongside the Bentley in Kensington, London.
John Vanderslice, global head of luxury and lifestyle brands at Hilton Worldwide, said that the introduction of the Waldorf Astoria brand into Scotland demonstrated the company's aggressive growth strategy. There are now 24 Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts worldwide, with a further nine due to open by the end of 2012.
"The Caledonian will bring the core values of the brand to life, unified by our extraordinary service and singular experiences, through its distinct character, location and charm," Vanderslice said.
