JD Wetherspoon to reopen destroyed Woolwich riot pub
Pub company JD Wetherspoon is to reopen a Woolwich pub gutted by fire during last year's summer riots.
Wetherspoon's has spent £1.3m redeveloping the site of the original pub after it was destroyed in August 2011.
The pub, which originally opened in May 2000, will be managed by Arber Hasani.
Wetherspoon's chief executive John Hutson said: "We are delighted to be reopening the Great Harry.
"The pub plays an important role in the Woolwich community.
"In the days following the disturbances, the hoardings around the burnt-out pub became a ‘tribute wall' for people to leave messages and comments of support, which showed the importance of the pub to them and the local community."
