Sodexho keeps trust
Sodexho's healthcare division has retained a £300,000 management contract with the Leicestershire Partnership and Consortium NHS Trust.
The contract, which is for five years with a possible extension for two more, involves an array of services from catering to laundry at 15 community-based hospital sites. The healthcare division will also offer advice to a further 100 sites under the trust's control.
Reading FC signing
All Leisure, Compass Group's sports and leisure arm, has struck a £27m seven-year deal with Reading Football Club. It will provide hospitality, banqueting and conference services at the Madejski Stadium and the nearby Royal Berkshire Conference Centre.
As part of the deal, Reading Royals football fans and London Irish rugby fans, who share the stadium, can choose from a tailor-made retail catering service, including branded outlets such as Upper Crust and Harry Ramsden's. Event catering specialist Leith's will manage the event and banqueting facilities.
Medirest wins Derby
Medirest has landed a £60m contract for hotel and catering services at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and Derby City General Hospital.
The deal runs for six years as part of a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) scheme with Southern Derbyshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and PFI group Skanska Innisfree. Medirest will provide meals for 1,000 patients, staff and visitors a day, and there are plans to develop a high street-style retail foodcourt.
Alpha in Monarch deal
Alpha Airports Group has signed a new multimillion-pound deal with Monarch Airlines.
The contract, which starts on 1 November, is for a full network catering service on the airline's charter and scheduled business throughout the UK, covering 10,900 flights a year.
Correction
We have been asked to point out that it was Sodexho, not Compass, which lost the staff restaurant contract at Cambridge University Press, as stated in the article "To have and to hold".
