London's Docklands is to have another luxury floating hotel, under a joint venture between developer Chrome-castle and British Waterways.
Tower Hamlets Council has granted planning permission for the £30m, 18,000-tonne floating ship hotel, to be permanently moored in Docklands from 2002.
This follows the announcement that Joint Hospitality Industry Congress chairman Jeremy Logie is to head a company aiming to build a fleet of 20 luxury floating hotels in the next 10 years (Caterer, 29 September).
This venture, Harbour Quay Hotels, has negotiated a lease to moor the hotel at West India Quays.
A planning application decision is due in the new year.
