Amjad Ali buys Queens hotel in Pontefract
The Queens hotel in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, has been sold to Essex-based businessman Amjad Ali for £425,000.
The 23-bedroom hotel, close to Pontefract racecourse and the M62, was formerly owned by Malcolm Ripley, whose company Mitre Taverns owns two hotels and six pubs in the Yorkshire area. Robert Barry & Co acted as agent.
Hotel manager Sue Shater and her 12 staff have all been kept on. Shater said that the new owner was investing in refurbishment of the bedrooms and function rooms, and promoting the 60-seat restaurant.
