CLARKE takes over management of adnams hotels

DUDLEY Clarke has formally taken over as general manager of Adnams Hotels, a new division of the Suffolk-based brewer Adnams & Company.

The company's hotelsdivision consists of five properties already owned by Adnams, four of which previously operated as Sole Bay Hotels. A total of more than £250,000 will have been invested in them by the end of this year.

Mr Clarke was previously general manager of the 45-bedroom Swan at Southwold, where he has been replaced by deputy manager Carole Wilkin. In turn, dining room and bar manager Peter Lawrence becomes deputy manager.

Personnel manager for Adnams Hotels is Victoria Laughland, formerly personnel manager of Harvest Poultry in Lowestoft.

LECKIE junior manages HYDRO

STEPHEN Leckie has taken over as general manager of the Crieff Hydro Hotel in Perthshire, the fifth generation of his family to be involved with the 200-bedroom property.

Mr Leckie, who joins from Queens Moat's Briggens House Hotel, in Hertfordshire, is son of the present managing director, John Leckie, and great-grand nephew of Henry Meikle, who founded the Hydro in 1868.

ATTARD MOVES NORTH TO TAYSIDE

SUSAN Attard has been named deputy director for the direct service organisations (DSO) within Tayside Contracts, responsible for schools and welfare catering, building cleaning and vehicle maintenance.

Her immediate past position was regional contracts manager for Surrey Commercial Services, overseeing catering and cleaning contracts within about 100 Surrey schools.

One of Ms Attard's main roles in Tayside will be to prepare for the next round of compulsory competitive tendering. Catering goes out to tender next January.

SAGAR HEADS UP BRISTOL SWALLOW

FORMER Swallow Hotels Manager of the Year Philip Sagar has been made general manager of the Swallow Royal Hotel in Bristol.

Mr Sagar moves from the Swallow Hotel in Peterborough which he opened for the group in 1987.

INTERNATIONAL MOVE FOR FARROW

JAMES Farrow has been promoted to vice-president ofinternational sales at Hilton International.

He joined Ladbroke Hotels in 1987 as marketing director, becoming sales and marketing director, Hilton UK, after its acquisition of Hilton International.

Sir John Egan, chief executive of BAA and chairman of the London Tourist Board, has been appointed to the board of the British Tourist Authority.

David Banks to general manager of the Village Hotel & Leisure Club, Blackpool, from operations manager at the property.

Thierry Aubugeau to executive head chef at London's Chelsea Hotel, from a similar post at the nearby Sheraton Belgravia.

Jurgen Owcza has taken over from Billie Lloyd as vice-president of the Leading Hotels of the World, responsible for the consortium'sEuropean activities.

Sally Woodward to general manager of the Hard Rock Cafe in London, following the promotion of John Crippen to regional director for the chain in Europe.

Jonathan Wilson and Franáois Bechu have been promoted to food and beverage manager and banqueting manager respectively at Le Meridien, London.

Ted Taylor to the new position of human resources manager at Russell & Brand. Tom Perry joins as business manager to develop a new advisory service for companies with in-house caterers.

Stephen Pritchard to general manager of the Nottingham Stage Hotel, from deputy manager at the Leicester Stage Hotel where Stuart Heys recently became general manager.

Caroline Fry to operations manager with Henley-based Charlton House Catering Services, from senior relief manager with Sutcliffe Catering.

Denise Mellors to reception manager of the Jarvis Penns Hall Hotel, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, from London's Norfolk Hotel. Penny Wither becomes conference and events manager.

Helen Noble to sales manager at the Holiday Inn, Cambridge, from a similar position at the Stakis Hotel, York (formerly a Holiday Inn).

Niall Wallis and Valérie Dhieux to assistant manager and sales manager respectively at the new Orion apartment-hotel in London.

Taoufik Achour to conference and banqueting manager at London's Gloucester hotel, from a similar position at the Hotel Conrad, London.

Anke Heintz has been promoted to front office manager at the Croydon Park Hotel, Croydon, Surrey.

Jill Kluge has been promoted to director of group communications at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

David White to financial controller of Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club, Gloucestershire, from assistant financial controller at Birmingham's Copthorne Hotel.

Derek Bray to director of sales and marketing in the Crawley head office of Hygiene International, from business development manager, Pall Mall Hotel Services.
