Robyn Jones: rebrand will strengthen bespoke service

Charlton House has restructured its business into five specialist strands, the independent catering firm will announce to clients today.

Now operating under the parent company name of CH&Co, the firm has divided into five specialist divisions. The Charlton House brand will focus on staff catering and the business and industry sector, while Lusso will provide fine-dining services in the City of London and beyond.

Chester Boyd, which was set up by Charles Boyd and acquired by Charlton House in 2007, will continue to operate in the livery halls and private venues, while Ampersand will look after the catering at iconic venues such as the Law Society, the Royal Institute of British Architects and London Zoo.

It's The Agency, originally a specialist sales division within Chester Boyd, will launch on 21 June as a standalone bespoke booking service for all venues within the CH&Co group.

The change in business strategy follows a successful start to the year for the group. CH&Co has secured over £24m of new business and contract retentions since January, including a deal at Mansion House, the private residence of the Lord Mayor of London, estimated to be worth up to £1.5m a year.

Robyn Jones, co-founder and chief executive of CH&Co, said: “One of our fundamental core values is to offer a bespoke service. The rebranding of the business allows us to focus totally on the individuality of each market sector and the needs of our clients within each of those markets.

“It recognises our distinct areas of expertise and provides a much clearer definition to potential clients of what we can offer”.

The transition into a multi-brand business comes as a result of the company’s organic growth into various disciplines, with a growing portfolio of clients in the commercial sector, venues, public catering and most recently, the City livery hall sector.

Jones said:”The rebranding gives us a better platform to retain existing business and develop further within each niche market to enable us to compete with smaller, specialist operators. Above all, it ensures that we continue to provide a truly personal service through smaller teams.”

She added:” This investment in the rebranding of the company has allowed us to promote and empower very talented individuals within our business and opens up new career opportunities for many more. As an Investors in People company since 1997, we see this as a major factor in our decision to take this step”.
