The Tourism Society has embraced social media and set up a group page on social networking site Facebook.
The Tourism Society, the professional body for tourism professionals, said it hoped to raise awareness of its role and to discuss the issues affecting the industry via the social networking site.
Alison Cryer, chairman of the Tourism Society, said: “This new scheme is in line with the society’s objectives to use new technology to offer added benefits to members.”
Current posts on the Tourism Society include a Daily Mail article about tourism minister Margret Hodge storming out of a drinks reception after a slagging match with UKinbound chairman Philip Green.
The group has also forged an alliance with tourism community website TravelMole, which will attend the society’s annual conference in St Helens later this month and post video clips of the event on its website.
