McCain Foodservice has announced the five caterers due to battle it out in the grand final of its Signature Dish competition this Saturday (13th June) for a £2,000 prize.
The finalists include Daniel Waldock, Thames Valley University; Paula Wiles, Thanet College; Matthew Jackson, Llangoed Hall, Beacon; Mark Cody, Liverpool Community Colleague and Sebastian Price, Crown Moran Hotel, London.
Over the past four months, McCain in conjunction with the Craft Guild of Chefs has hosted regional finals throughout the country, which culminates in this weekend’s cook-off final where chefs will be creating their own Signature Dish using McCain Signature products.
The chefs will prepare a starter and a main course which will be assessed by a panel of judges including Craft Guild chef Mathew Shropshall, Bill Farnsworth the former director of Catering Studies at Birmingham College and Ben Bartlett, food development manager for Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises.
Adrian Greaves, McCain Foodservice associate director, said: “We’ve been hugely impressed at the level of talent that we’ve seen through the competition. It’s a promising sign for the hospitality industry that these young chefs have created such inspirational and innovative dishes. The grand final looks set to be particularly challenging for the judging panel. ”
