Stronvar Guest House

Local operators John and Denise Alexander and William and Louise Clark have snapped up the Stronvar Guest House, which lies on the busy main road between Ayr and Prestwick.

The property, a former nursing home that was converted into a guesthouse in 2007, features crow-stepped gable walls and stained glass windows.

It is close to Prestwick Airport and several championship golf courses, including the Old Course at Prestwick, Troon and Turnberry.

Stronvar offers nine en-suite bedroom to sleep 19, a residents’ lounge, and a 24-seat dining room partly incorporated into a south-facing conservatory.

The family teams that have bought Stronvar intend to run it alongside their other guesthouse near Ayr town centre.

The Glasgow office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold of a guide price of £495,000.
