Rogano sold to Lynnet Leisure for £6m

Glasgow's internationally renowned seafood restaurant Rogano has been sold to Scottish bar and restaurant group Lynnet Leisure for more than £6m.

The art deco-styled fine-dining restaurant has attracted many celebrities since its opening in 1935, including Henry Kissinger, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan and Madonna.

Lynnet Leisure operates bars and restaurants, often with nightclubs, across Scotland, including 29 Glasgow, a private members' club that opened recently near Rogano.

Alan Creevy of chartered surveyor Creevy LLH, which marketed the restaurant on behalf of Spirit Group, said: "Lynnet is developing a large new bar-restaurant and entertainment complex above and around the property and is now able to capitalise on the synergies between Rogano and its existing operations."

A spokeswoman for Spirit Group, which expects the deal to complete by 17 August, said: "We felt Rogano would be better in the hands of an entrepreneurial restaurant operator."
