Gordon Ramsay to cook in London Eye

Three Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay is to cook for guests in a London Eye capsule for one night, as part of the inaugural London Restaurant Festival.

One of the London Eye’s capsules is being transformed into a kitchen for the six nights of the festival, which runs from 8-13 October, with a different chef cooking for guests each night.

Ten diners on each night will eat food cooked by Ramsay, Richard Corrigan (Corrigan's Mayfair), Francesco Mazzei (L'Anima), Vineet Bhatia (Rasoi Vineet Bhatia), Endo San (Hakkasan) and a chef from Zuma in the temporary dining room with views of the capital 135m above London.

Tickets for the one-off Gordon Ramsay event will be auctioned at the ‘Maggie and Rose Art for Starlight’ evening on 26 September, and interested bidders can place sealed bids in advance.

One of the festival’s other main attractions, legendary French chef Pierre Koffmann’s planned ‘pop–up’ restaurant on Selfridges’ roof has been extended by an extra week, Caterer has learned.

The restaurant was planned initially only for the six days of the festival, but high demand for bookings has prompted organisers to double its life-span, giving more people the chance to experience the return of La Tante Claire.

Festival founder Fay Maschler said: “We are thrilled that Pierre Koffmann is able to extend the time that he is cooking on the roof of Selfridges and increase availability of seats at this unique event. For Londoners and visitors alike it is the sort of revelation about eating, atmosphere and excitement that is at the heart of The London Restaurant Festival."
