First decide whether you want gin or vodka. I recommend gin because it has more character. Make sure you go for a good gin, for example Tanquery or Plymouth.
Method
Take a boston glass and pour in 65ml of frozen gin.
Fill to the top with ice and start to stir. Stir for about 2-3 minutes. This process will water down the gin, making the drink more pleasant.
Take a frozen martini glass and pour in 10ml of dry vermouth. Swirl about and then discard the excess, leaving the inside of the glass lightly coated.
Go back to your boston glass, double-strain the gin into the martini glass until it is about 1cm from the top.
Garnish with an olive, lemon twist or a cocktail onion.
