Al Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the bombing of three hotels in Jordan’s capital Amman, which has killed at least 57 people.
The hotels were hit in near simultaneous blasts at around 9pm last night and left an estimated 300 people injured, as well as nearly 60 dead.
The blasts happened in some of the city's most expensive hotels, the Grand Hyatt, Radisson SAS and Days Inn, which are commonly used by Westerners.
The largest explosion was in the Radisson during a wedding reception and seems to have been triggered by a suicide bomber.
Initial reports also suggest witnesses saw a bomber with an explosive belt at the Hyatt.
The Days Inn blast may have been the result of a suicide car bomber.
Hyatt and Radisson have issued statements confirming the bombings but neither could confirm the extent of injuries at their properties at this stage.
However, Radisson has confirmed that no in-house guests were among the casualties. The fatalities are all believed to be from the wedding party and staff at the event.
Jordanian King Abdullah has condemned the attacks.
