Gordon Ramsay saves Plane Food restaurant

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has saved one of his restaurants from potential liquidation by clearing its tax debt, it was reported today.

The financially-troubled, multi-Michelin-starred chef has cleared outstanding costs and debts on his Gordon Ramsay Plane Food restaurant in Heathrow Terminal 5, after being given two weeks to settle the outstanding payments by the High Court, according to the Metro.

Gordon Ramsay Holdings appeared at London’s High Court last month after HM Revenue and Customs applied for liquidation petitions against four of the chef’s businesses: Plane Food at Heathrow Airport, The Narrow; Restaurant Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road and Maze.

Two of the petitions against Narrow Street and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay were dismissed when it emerged the debts had been paid, but Gordon Ramsay (Maze) Ltd was given 63 days to clear its debts; and Gordon Ramsay Plane Food was given two weeks.

The clearance of the debts comes in the week that Ramsay stepped back from the day-to-day involvement in its two-Michelin-starred restaurant at the London Hotel in New York and announced the closure of the Boxwood Café at London’s Berkeley Hotel next April.
