Chef David Everitt-Matthias has been awarded Best UK Cookbook at the World Gourmand Cookbook Awards 2009 for his Dessert cookbook. The two-Michelin-starred chef of Cheltenham’s Le Champignon Sauvage restaurant was given the accolade for Dessert – recipes from Le Champignon Sauvage, which is the follow-up to the chef and restaurant’s Essence recipe book. The award is a particular achievement for the chef, who has no specialist pastry experience, and approaches the idea of dessert in a surprisingly untraditional way in the book, which has a forward from Heston Blumethal.
In his review of the book for Caterer, two-Michelin-starred chef Phil Howard said: “These desserts are special occasion masterpieces that have quite rightly played a part in earning him a reputation as one of the finest cooks in this country.”Michelin-starred chef David Everitt-Matthias awarded honorary doctorate >>
