New Rotana hotel in Dubai becomes the world’s tallest - for now

The newly-opened Rose Rayhaan by Rotana in Dubai has been officially confirmed by Guinness World Records as the world’s tallest hotel.

Standing at 333m high, the 482 bedroom hotel is spread over 72 floors.  The highest bedrooms are located on the 65th floor, from where there are views of the recently-opened world's tallest building, the Buri Khalifa.

The proportion of the height to the 10,000 square feet plot of land on which the hotel is situated was a major challenge for the builders, the Arabian Contracting Company.

Since its soft opening two weeks ago, the hotel has had a room occupancy of 25%.  Rotana, which manages 68 properties in the Middle East under several brands including Rotana Hotels & Resorts, Centro Hotels by Rotana, Rayhaan Hotels & Resorts by Rotana and Arjaan Hotel Apartments by Rotana, is aiming for an average occupancy of 65%.

The Rose Rayhaan by Rotana is unlikely to hold the record of the world’s tallest hotel for long as the Ritz-Carlton, which will occupy floors 102 to 118 of the 484m-high International Commerce Centre (ICC), will open in Hong Kong later this year.
