Gallet received the award, a medal and a diploma for his services to the catering industry, in a ceremony at the Lysses hotel in Fareham, near Portsmouth.

The veteran chef, who boasts 45 years in the catering industry, said: “It is a great moment to be shared with my friends and colleagues at the college.”

He has worked in both in France and Great Britain in the capacity of chef, sous-chef, head chef and chef patron/proprietor in establishments such as Lyon Casino de Charbonnieres, Nantua Sahner in France, Gleneagles hotel in Scotland, Poole Art Centre in Dorset and Hilton Hotel, Manchester.

The award’s denomination is taken from the celebrated French chef and restaurateur Auguste Escoffier.
