Crown Venue Catering has been awarded a five-year contract worth an estimated £15m to cater at the GMEX & Manchester International Convention Centre, which has been re-branded as Manchester Central.

The caterer, which begins the contract on 2 April, said it was “excited to be a part of the programme to develop Manchester Central into an industry leading facility”.

Charles Beer, chief executive of the Crown Group, said: “I am very excited that we are entering this partnership with Manchester Central, an established venue that is redefining what it can offer to its clients.

“Manchester is an exciting and vibrant city and we are thrilled to offer through Manchester Central Hospitality, the very highest quality service for their event; taking the Crown Group reputation to a new city and provide a new client with a complete service of the Group.”

Earlier this month, CVC parent Crown Group set up a new division to target the sports and leisure market after winning a £50m deal to run the catering at 75 leisure centres across the UK.

The newly created Leisurextra division runs the café, bar, function and vending facilities at the centres on behalf of Leisure Connection, which runs the properties.
