Shoreditch office block fire traced to Sosho cocktail bar

The cocktail bar Sosho has been named as the source of the fire raging through bars and restaurants in a Shoreditch office block, according to the London Fire Brigade.

Four floors of a building in Tabernacle Street, East London, have been damaged by the fire, including the ground floor restaurant which is thought to be The East Room, but the fire brigade was unable to confirm this.

A spokesman told Caterer that the blaze, which was reported at 4.32am, has spread to a neighbouring building. Firefighters were still tackling the blaze at 10am.

No casualties have been reported and as yet the exact cause of the fire is unknown. The spokesman said a joint investigation between the fire brigade and the police would begin once the fire was under control.

“There have been no reports to say the building isn’t structurally sound,” he continued. “But we’ll take every care to ensure it is safe in our further operations.”
