Blessed are the cheesemakers

Like a true professional, the little Camembert from Normandy avoided blushing as the accolades were heaped upon it.

In one of the closest-judged contests in the 17-year history of the World Cheese Awards, held at London's Kensington Olympia, the unpasteurised Camembert from manufacturer Isigny Sainte-Mère walked off with the title of supreme champion as well as best French cheese. It beat 1,500 cheeses from around the world, with the judges praising its "balanced finish" and "good character".

But the Camembert said it just wanted world peace.
