The Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle

Sodexo has been awarded a three-year contract worth £3m to provide conference, banqueting and visitor catering services at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle.

Under the terms of the deal, the contract’s caterer’s leisure and event catering arm, Sodexo Prestige, will also provide sales and marketing services to the new £26m museum, which opens on 23 May.

The contract will see Sodexo Prestige manage two cafes: the Street Café, serving speciality coffees and pastries and the Hancock Café, celebrating the tastes of the North-east.

The company will also manage a range of conference and event spaces, including an exhibition space for meetings and receptions and the Hancock Café for evening entertainment.

David Johnson, operations director at Sodexo Prestige, said: "We are extremely proud to have been awarded such a prestigious contract for a unique and important venue in Newcastle.

“We look forward to working in partnership with the Great North Museum: Hancock to deliver outstanding events and visitor catering in a truly exceptional venue.”
