Critic finds Il Baretto ‘chaotic’ but ‘charming’

Italian restaurant Il Baretto has the makings of a fun restaurant, despite an Italian sense of chaos that runs a fine line between charming and frustrating, according to Terry Durack.

Housed in the former Giustu site in Marylebone, Il Baretto is owned by Arjun Waney, the man behind Zuma, Roka and La Petite Maison.

“It's a simple place, pumping out fresh, colourful, crowd-pleasing Italian food in a smart-casual room to which you could just as happily take your kids or your colleagues,” says the Independent’s food critic.

Meanwhile, the Observer’s Jay Rayner gives a cautious endorsement to Gandolfi Fish in Glasgow.

“If you're in Glasgow and want some good(ish) fish, go there,” he says. “You'll have a nice enough dinner and nobody will die.”

The Guardian’s Matthew Norman declares Danish restaurant Madsen does its homeland proud with its good and fairly priced food and enchanting service.
