Tom Aikens has shut his Michelin-starred flagship restaurant in London's Chelsea for a refurbishment.

Restaurant Tom Aikens will be closed for three months and will reopen in October.

The move comes after the chef teamed up with new investor the Istanbul Doors Restaurant Group and will see the restaurant relaunch with a more informal atmosphere and service approach. The refurb will be overseen by Turkish interior designer Hakan Ezer.

Aikens teamed up with the Istanbul Doors Restaurant Group earlier this year, having previously lost control of his business in 2008 when his company went into a pre-pack administration and was bought by businessman Peter Dubens.

Additionally, as part of his new partnership, the chef will be looking to expand the Tom's Kitchen brand, which currently has one outlet in Chelsea and another at Somerset House, where Aikens also runs Tom's Deli, Tom's Terrace and Tom's Events.
