Elior wins £2.5m York Castle Museum contract

Wednesday 11 August 2010 11:47

Contract caterer Elior has won a £2.5m contract to operate the café at York Castle Museum.

The five-year deal will see the caterer provide regionally-sourced meals to The Castle Café's 300,000 customers a year.

Raymond Santamaria, marketing manager of Elior Concessions, said: "The café is a brand new design and Elior has partnered with the York Museums Trust, an independent charity which manages some of the most important York attractions, to really invest in the Castle facility and create an inviting café."

Santamaria added that very little pre-packaged food will be served in the café, with a focus instead on 'Best of British' grab-and-go offerings including hot pasties, home-made stews and fresh sandwiches, as well as a dedicated children's menu.

Michael Woodward, commercial director, York Museums Trust, said: "The Elior team worked closely with us, and other contractors on the project, to create a café solution that really meets with the philosophy of the York Museums Trust."

The Castle Café's is located so that it is accessible to both museum visitors and the general public.
