Gordon Ramsay opens in Canada and confirms Las Vegas “discussions”

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay (pictured) opened a new restaurant, Laurier Gordon Ramsay, in Montreal, Canada yesterday.

The rotisserie and barbeque restaurant was opened by Ramsay, but head chef Guillermo Russo will be in charge of the day-to day-operations going forward.

Ramsay has been retained on a consultancy basis by the 75-year-old restaurant which was previously a local favourite, the Rotisserie Laurier BBQ.

Ramsay has overseen a sympathetic refurbishment of the 124-seat restaurant and developed a "refreshed" menu which still includes classic favourites such as grain-fed rotisserie chicken and smokey ribs as well as its signature moka cake.

Separately, a spokeswoman for Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) confirmed the group was in talks about working with iconic Las Vegas hotel Caesars Palace. She said: "We're excited about the prospect of working with Caesars Palace and are currently in discussions with them."

However, she played down reports that GRH plans to launch a new steak restaurant chain called Fat Cow after the company trademarked the name, saying: "It is common practice to register trademarks but at the moment there are no plans to use this one."
