Tune Hotels offer rooms for 2p at new opening

Tune Hotels is celebrating the opening of its second budget hotel in London with the offer of 1,000 room-nights for just 2p.

The booking period for the discounted rooms at the Liverpool Street hotel opened at 8am this morning for rooms on select dates from the opening day of the property on 4 January 2012 to 27 May 2012.

The budget brand hit the headlines with the opening of its first London hotel, Tune Hotel Westminster in Waterloo, in August 2010, with room rates at a promotional price of 1p.

Tune Hotels was set up in South-east Asia in 2007 by Tony Fernandes, the Malaysian entrepreneur behind low-cost airline AirAsia, who recently acquired Queens Park Rangers football club. Like the low-cost airline, its concept is based on an internet-driven marketing model where pricing is linked to demand with early bookings offering guests low rates.

The average price paid at Tune Hotel Westminster is £50, while early bookers can be rewarded with a £35 rate.
