Wolfgang Neumann, the former head of Hilton in Europe, has been appointed as chief executive of German-owned hotel management company Arabella Hospitality Group.
The appointment follows the sudden death of Stefan Schörghuber, the billionaire owner of Arabella’s parent company, Schörghuber Corporate Group, last November.
Schörghuber was just 47 when he died of natural causes at his home in Munich.
The Arabella Hospitality Group includes 42 hotels belonging to the ArabellaStarwood Group – a partnership with Starwood Hotels & Resorts - in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Majorca and South Africa.
The division also includes companies responsible for managing golf courses as well as shareholdings in a number of companies in the tourism sector.
Neumann left Hilton last December having worked for the company since 1984. In January, he told Caterersearch that he wanted to stay in the hotel business “for the foreseeable future”.
