New Sheraton in China is Starwood's 1000th hotel
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has launched its 1000th hotel with the opening of the Sheraton Qiandao Lake Resort in China.
Frits van Paasschen, president and CEO of Starwood, said that the latest opening was emblematic of both the company's history and future.
"As Starwood's largest and most global brand, Sheraton provided us early footholds in emerging markets, including China in the early 1980s when we were the first international hotel there," he said.
Starwood plans to open 80-100 more hotels in 2010, the majority of which will be in Asia Pacific.
