Award-winning gastropub chef takes on Hall and Woodhouse lease in Battersea
An award-winning chef-proprietor has sold the lease of his Suffolk pub and taken on a new lease on a Hall and Woodhouse pub in Battersea, London.
James Angus Rogers and his partner, Annie Broom, have taken on the Woodman, in SW11, having previously held the lease at the Dog in Grundisburgh, where Rogers won the accolade of East Anglia's Best Gastropub in the Great British Pub Awards. He has since sold the leasehold for the Dog to his brother, Charles.
The London pub has now opened with Rogers behind the stove, following a refurbishment of both the interior and exterior of the historic building.
The Woodman will now be serving a rustic menu showcasing seasonal produce, accompanied by Badger ales.
James Rogers said: "We are very pleased with how everything has come together, including the refurbishment which was extensive and succeeded in combining London style with rural touches such as open fires, Chesterfields and, of course, a kitchen fit for the rustic, country cooking that will be on offer seven days a week."
